4M Swim Water Introduction.

The introduction to water is an important step in your baby’s journey to a lifelong love of the water. In this class, experiences working with babies will be shared to provide you with tips on how to develop comfort and confidence in the water with your baby. Research shows that babies/toddlers under the age of five who are in swim lessons are more advanced in their cognitive and physical development than their non-swimming peers (Jorgensen, Grootenboer and Funnell, 2011). Studies have also shown that baby swimmers develop better balance, movement and grasping techniques than non-swimmers (Sigmundsson and Hopkins, 2010). Swim lessons also help babies develop social confidence, build stronger muscles, and just have tons of fun!

It is important to understand that this program is not designed to teach babies/toddlers to become accomplished swimmers, or even to survive in the water on their own. The program provides information and techniques for parents for orientation to the water as well as providing a fun recreational activity to do together. Parent(s) and/or guardians will accompany the baby/toddler in the water and will receive feedback and guidance from the instructor.

All 4M Saturday Only Sessions have an inclement weather day built into the four(4) class/meeting schedule. If rain (specifically thunder and lightening) is a non-factor, the session will have an extra day of class.
